Washing your jersey

Washing your jersey

Try not to wash your jersey garments more often than necessary. If they have only been worn briefly and are still fresh, simply airing them on a hanger or clothes rack can often be enough. For small marks, use a clean damp cloth and gently dab the area rather than washing the whole garment.

We recommend washing your jersey at 30 degrees on a gentle or hand wash cycle. A low temperature is kinder to the cotton fibres, helps to minimise shrinkage and uses less energy.

It is best to wash your jersey inside out. This helps to protect the surface of the fabric from rubbing against other garments in the washing machine, which can cause fading and bobbling over time. Wash with similar colours, particularly when the garment is new, as some dyed fabrics can release excess colour duringwashing.

Drying and ironing your jersey

Drying and ironing your jersey

Take your jersey out of the washing machine as soon as the cycle has finished and give it a good shake to remove creases. While it is still damp, carefully flatten and reshape the garment.

Do not tumble dry your jersey. The heat and movement can
cause unnecessary shrinkage and put extra stress on the fibres. Instead, leave your garment to dry naturally and flat. Avoid hanging heavy, wet jersey, as the weight of the water can stretch the fabric and alter its shape.

If your jersey needs ironing, iron it inside out. Use a medium heat and gently smooth out any remaining creases.

Shrinkage

Shrinkage

All of our jersey is made using natural cotton, which can shrink when washed, particularly during the first few washes. Washing at 30 degrees, avoiding tumble drying and reshape when damp.

Some shrinkage is a natural characteristic of cotton and cannot be completely avoided without chemical treatments. With the right care, your jersey should retain its shape, softness and colour for many years of wear.
